Rewire Regulations

All domestic and commercial electric installations must be rewired to the latest set of standards, BS7671.

The first edition of the regulation was established in 1882 and we are now working to the 18th edition of the regulations. New editions are typically released every 10 years as a complete new version, with amendments every 2 years or so.

With new technologies entering the market like electric car charging, lighting technologies and with homes getting forever smarter, these regulations are changing more frequently. More than ever before, it's important to use a registered electrician, who is working to the current regulations.

As an NICEIC registered contractor, all our electricians have passed the 18th edition qualification and undertake regular training on amendments to ensure every installation we do, is to the highest of standards.

Alongside BS7671, installations must also comply with building control regulations. Building-regulations also require approval for:

  • replacing fuse boxes and connected electrics

  • changing electrics near a bath or shower

  • adding new circuits

Apex Doma are registered under the competent-person scheme to issue Building Control Notifications, this is done post works. We are able to notify the installation on your behalf, so we can arrange and mange the building control visit or inspect the installation as part of the work.
